free radio and television
Looking back, the 90's were the probably the golden age of free media, as far as activism is concerned.
Amsterdam had many pirate radio stations, some hosted in squats around the city. For a short period, the cable television system even hosted a pirate TV station.
Nowadays, it's virtually impossible to start a pirate radio station, because all frequencies have been sold to commercial stations.
In Leiden, one of the last dutch "left-wing" pirate stations gave up just a few weeks ago.
But radio and television, in the old-fashioned way, are also getting less relevant because of the emerging broadcasting capabilities on internet.
Which techniques are relevant for activists right now?
