25May2008SummaryMeetingFrom techmeetWe would like to present what we decided today at the meeting, since the number of people participating was very low, we decided to give a 2 weeks deadline for people to discuss our decision and then meet again and finally decide on techmeet 2008. So the deadline for this proposal is: SUNDAY JUNE 8TH 2008 We will meet again on irc to decide, the time propose is: 15pm SP | 11 am SF | ??? NL
1. Rio - 5/7 Sept [there was a proposal from Rhatto to host it at the end of the month or in the first week of octuber] 2. Chile - 13/21 Sept During the discussion, since the best dates for Chile were at the same time as the nadir gathering, Chile offered to support Rio's proposal and be the host for next year. We discussed the dates for Rio then, and for most of the people from Brasil, Rhatto's proposal to do it at the end of the month or at the beginning of Octuber was good. But for people coming from other countries it wouldn't work out:
We decided on having Techmeet 2008 in Rio at the dates 5-6-7 of September, 2008. We also decided to have a face-to-face meeting in Santiago (Chile) next year. We know the logic of Techmeet is to have rotate the years with face-to-face meetings and distributed meetings. But since this year there are so many events happening around the same time we will have Techmeet, it is possible that more people will be able to come next year.
